Dr. Kang presented a technical paper titled; "Advanced Cooling for Power Electronics" at the International Conference on Integrated Power Electronics Systems (CIPS) in Nuremburg Germany held 06-08 March 2012. The paper discusses cooling technologies that have evolved in step to remove increasing levels of heat dissipation and manage junction temperatures to achieve goals for efficiency, cost, and reliability. Previous concepts are reviewed and new concepts; including an air cooled heat sink, a thermosiphon heat sink, a vortex flow liquid cold plate and a shear flow direct contact cooling concept are described.

Aavid donates equipment to a local college. The donated machinery and equipment will support a newly created Manufacturing Program that is scheduled to begin for the fall 2012 Semester.

The Wind Power Asia Show has been the annual networking and trade platform for China's wind industry since 2003.

The event will take place at the National Convention Center in Beijing, China and Aavid will be exhibiting at Booth T15. Aavid will have a liquid cooling system on display.

Guy Diemunsch presented a technical paper titled "Keeping Your Key Chips Alive" at the International Automotive Power Electronics International Conference and Exhibition held on April 6 and 7, 2011 at La Ferme du Manet, Montigny Le Bretonneux, France. The technical paper discusses cooling technologies that are currently available and how they can be used to spread the heat, conduct it to or exchange it with ambient air which is the cold source available for an automobile. The paper reviews the key cooling parameters, adapts them to the automotive constraints and shows how to solve some critical problems. The key is to look at the heat density and reduce it all along the heat path to reach a level that can be managed with forced air convection. While the needed technologies are available, opportunities exist to improve cooling elements and reduce constraints to develop lower cost and more reliable solutions.

Guy also chaired the session on "Passive Components" and led the Panel discussion on this topic.

Sukhvinder Kang spoke at the "Heat is On" symposium organized by MEPTEC on Monday, March 21 in San Jose CA. The topic of his talk was "Thermal management architectures for rack based electronics systems." The presentation covered a range of design options from simple air cooling to the use of thermosiphons and liquid cooling solutions to achieve very high thermal performance.

On April 30, Mark Medeiros, Business Manager for North America, accepted the GE Quality award at the GE transportation supplier summit in Shanghai. He was greeted by Sheila Tierney, GM Global Sourcing, Ken Pratt Sourcing Leader and Mao Jing Sourcing Program Manager.
